Privacy Policy
NFC Forge is designed with a strict zero-data-collection philosophy. Your privacy is paramount.
NFC Forge does not collect, record, track, transmit, share, or monetize any of your personal data, tag scan contents, memory dumps, or usage activity. Everything happens 100% on your device.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
When you use NFC Forge on iOS, we do not collect:
- Personal identification information (names, email addresses, phone numbers).
- NFC tag payload data (NDEF messages, vCards, URLs, Wi-Fi credentials).
- Raw tag memory dumps, lock status, or hardware cryptographic keys.
- Device identifiers (IDFA, IDFV, MAC addresses, IP addresses).
- Location data or GPS coordinates.
- Behavioral usage telemetry, session analytics, or crash logs sent to external servers.
2. On-Device Local Storage
NFC Forge utilizes Apple's SwiftData framework to store information you explicitly choose to save (such as your saved tag library for duplication and manual command history logs).
This data is stored exclusively in your iPhone's protected local application sandbox. It is never uploaded to external servers, cloud services, or third-party networks. You can clear your saved tags and history at any time directly in the in-app Settings.
3. Device Permissions & System APIs
NFC Forge requests minimal iOS permissions required to perform its core functionality:
- NFC Tag Reading Entitlement: Required by iOS to communicate with physical NFC chips held against the top edge of your iPhone. Used solely during active scanning sessions initiated by you.
- Local Network (Bonjour / HTTP): Used exclusively if you enable the optional Computer Reader Bridge in Tools. This creates a lightweight local web server on your home/office Wi-Fi subnet so your Mac or PC can interface with the iPhone. No data is transmitted outside your local area network.
4. Third-Party Frameworks & Analytics
NFC Forge contains zero third-party tracking or analytics SDKs. We do not use Google Firebase, Google Analytics, Mixpanel, AppsFlyer, Facebook SDK, or advertising networks.
5. Open-Source Transparency
NFC Forge is open-source software licensed under the MIT License. The complete source code is publicly accessible on GitHub at github.com/rshamilton/FreeNFC, allowing security researchers and users to independently audit our data handling and security practices.
