Terms of Use
Last updated September 2026
In plain English: Tree Cost Calculator is a tool for calculating and presenting estimates. The estimates you send, and any agreements you make with your customers, are yours. Please check them, keep them lawful, and don't treat the app as legal, tax or safety advice.
1. Agreement
By downloading or using the Tree Cost Calculator app (the "app") or this website, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don't agree, please don't use them. The app and website are provided by Ryan Hamilton ("we", "us").
These Terms supplement Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Apple EULA"). If they conflict on a matter the Apple EULA covers, the Apple EULA prevails.
2. License to use the app
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, for your own business or personal use, subject to Apple's usage rules. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer or redistribute the app except as the law or the Apple EULA permits, and you may not use it for anything unlawful.
3. What the app does; examples only
The app is a calculation and document tool. It works out an estimated volume from the circumference and height you enter, multiplies it by your prices, applies the additional charges, discount and tax rate you enter, and produces a PDF. It does not inspect trees, verify measurements, assess site conditions, look up tax laws, or check that an estimate meets any legal requirement.
Everything is an example. All calculations, volumes, prices, tax rates, tax regions, license numbers, sample data, screenshots and other figures shown in the app, on this website or in the App Store listing are examples and estimates only. Calculations can vary from real-world results and may be wrong or out of date. Tax rates and rules differ from place to place and change over time; nothing in the app or its examples states what tax applies to any job. Anything you rely on is entirely at your own risk.
4. Your estimates and agreements are yours
Estimates you create are between you and your customers. We are not a party to them, we do not review them, and we are not responsible for them. You are responsible for:
- the accuracy of the measurements, prices and other content on every estimate;
- the terms and notices printed on your estimates (you can edit them in Settings);
- complying with the laws that apply to your work and your customers, for example contractor licensing or registration, license numbers on estimates, insurance, permits, and consumer-protection rules such as required written notices or cancellation rights;
- charging, collecting and reporting any taxes that apply.
Tax regions and rates. You enter and maintain your own tax rates and regions, including when you work in more than one state or area. The app does not determine whether tax applies to a job or what rate is correct.
5. Signatures
The PDF estimate includes lines for a handwritten signature. The app does not capture, verify or store electronic signatures or signed copies. Whether a signed estimate is binding, and what it must say, depends on where you work and the job involved. We recommend having a local attorney review the wording of your estimates and terms.
6. Not professional advice; safety
Nothing in the app or on this website is legal, tax, accounting, engineering or arboricultural advice. Tree work is dangerous. The app does not assess a tree's condition or hazards, and does not tell you how to carry out work safely. The volume formula is an approximation intended for pricing, not a scientific measurement. You are responsible for following safe working practices and applicable regulations.
7. Your data
Your estimates, photos and settings belong to you. They are saved as ordinary files in a folder named "TCC" on your device (visible in the Files app) and, if iCloud Drive is available and you leave the option on, a copy is kept in your own iCloud Drive. See the Privacy Policy. We never receive your data and we do not provide a backup or restore service: you are responsible for backing up your data, for keeping your device and iCloud account secure, and for any loss, corruption or deletion of data for any reason, including a failed or incomplete iCloud backup or restore.
You are also responsible for any personal information about your customers that you enter, including photos: collect only what you need and follow the privacy laws that apply to your business.
8. Acceptable use
Don't use the app to create estimates or documents that are fraudulent or misleading, and don't interfere with this website or try to access anything you aren't meant to.
9. Ownership
The app, its design, icon and this website are © 2026 Ryan Hamilton. All rights reserved. Your data and content remain yours.
10. No warranty
The app and website are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties or guarantees of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, non-infringement, or uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do not warrant that any calculation, price, volume, tax figure, PDF or data is correct or that data will not be lost. Verify every estimate yourself before giving it to a customer.
11. No responsibility or liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no responsibility or liability of any kind for the app, this website, or anything that arises from using them. That includes, without limitation, any estimate, quote, price, calculation, tax figure or PDF you create or give to anyone; any job you price, agree to or perform; taxes, licensing, permits, insurance or legal compliance; disagreements or claims between you and your customers or anyone else; injury, property damage or loss of any kind; lost profits, revenue, business or data; and any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, even if we were told such loss was possible. You use the app entirely at your own risk and you are solely responsible for everything you do with it.
Where the law does not allow a limit or exclusion above, it applies only to the extent the law permits, and our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim, if any.
12. Apple
These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app and is not responsible for claims relating to it, as set out in the Apple EULA. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of the Apple EULA.
13. Changes and ending
We may update the app or these Terms. New versions will be posted on this page with a new date, and continuing to use the app means you accept them. You can stop at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend access if these Terms are broken.
